Comparative effects of dihydroergotamine and noradrenaline on resistance, exchange and capacitance functions in the peripheral circulation.

چکیده
1. A comparative quantitative study of the effects of dihydroergotamine (DHE) and noradrenaline (NA) on the precapillary and postcapillary resistance vessels, the precapillary ‘sphincters’, and the capacitance vessels was performed in a skeletal muscle and a skin region in healthy humans and in patients with orthostatic symptoms; further, the vascular effects of the drugs were analysed in muscle, skin, intestine and kidney in cats before and after sympathectomy. 2. The two drugs evoked a similar pattern of response in the cutaneous vascular bed, i.e. they both constricted resistance and capacitance vessels, increased the ratio of pre-/post-capillary resistance, but did not significantly influence precapillary sphincters. The reactions were similar in skeletal muscle for NA and also for DHE, with the important exception that the latter drug usually elicited a moderate dilator response in the muscle resistance vessels. 3. The average constrictor responses of the capacitance vessels were significantly larger for DHE than NA in skin and also in muscle despite the fact that DHE did not much affect the resistance vessels in muscle. 4. The effects of DHE on the intestinal and renal vascular circuits in the cat were comparatively small. 5. Since the constrictor effect of DHE seems confined mainly to the capacitance vessels, the drug may have beneficial effects in circulatory disorders characterized by impaired venomotor regulation.

Effects of 12-week integrated exercise training on glycemic and peripheral sensation control in diabetic peripheral neuropathy
Aim: Neuropathy control and management is an objective in therapeutic exercises prescribed for patients with Type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy. We examined the effects of 12-week integrated exercises (IE) on glycemic control and peripheral sensation criteria in patients with diabetic neuropathy. Methods: Based on scores of MNSI, we assigned 40 patients into two equal paired random groups (c...
متن کاملEffect of Hemorrhagic Shock on the Reactivity of Resistance and Capacitance Vessels and on Capillary Filtration Transfer in Cat Skeletal Muscle.
• It has been suggested that circulatory failure in hemorrhagic shock is due in large part to a derangement of the peripheral circulation. The exact nature of this derangement is as yet obscure. It is known that arterial pressure is low and blood flow to many areas (e.g., skeletal muscle) is reduced. It is also known that one of the important compensatory mechanisms in shock is an increased sym...
متن کاملVASODILATOR EFFECTS OF ACETYLCHOLINE IN AN EXPERIMEN TAL MODEL OF HEART FAILURE
The purpose of the work presented here was to investigate endotheliumdependent relaxations in the rabbit coronary ligation model of heart failure. We investigated endothelium-dependent relaxations at the level of larger vessels (thoracic aorta and vena cava left renal artery and left renal vein lateral saphenous artery and lateral saphenous vein and finally central ear artery and marginal e...
متن کاملCharacterization of Reservoir Heterogeneity by Capacitance-resistance Model in Water-flooding Projects
Tedious calculations and simulations are needed to obtain an efficient production scenario and/orproper field development strategy. Capacitance-resistance model (CRM) is proved to be a fastreservoir simulation tool using just the field-available data of production and injection rates. Thisapproach sets a time-constant and a weighting factor (or well-pair connectivity parameter...
متن کاملVenodilating action of nipradilol (K-351) in the pithed rat pretreated with dihydroergotamine.
The venodilating action of nipradilol was investigated by monitoring arterial blood pressure (BP), cardiac output (CO), heart rate (HR) and central venous pressure (CVP) in pithed rats treated with dihydroergotamine (DHE). DHE increased CVP and produced a simultaneous rise in BP and CO without appreciable changes in total peripheral resistance (TPR) and HR, indicating that DHE reduces venous ca...
